Easter 2014

Well, the time is here. Astro-Bunny has finalized preparing all his Easter goodies and has entered our universe. As usual, Astro-Bunny has set up shop in Easter Warren, located off Earthforce Celestial Garden Outpost and his Egg Boxes and Resurrected Rats roam the universe.

This year includes a new chain of missions like the 12 Days of Christmas missions, which start on the 15th and a few other bits and pieces.

The winners of the competition (link) will be announced later.

Lastly, Happy Easter from the Star Sonata Development Team!

A Bouncey Time of Year

The winter blues have passed us by, and now is a warmer time coming, with plants flowering, eggs to decorate and find. Astro-Bunny will be visiting us soon with lots of chocolaty goodies and Easter joy.

But before that can happen, we need some eggs, every size, shape(?) and colour. That’s why the Easter Bunny wants you to decorate, or make an egg and send it to him. Your egg can be a drawing, a hard boiled one or any other egg-tastic idea for eggyness you can come up with. Five winners will be picked from the submissions based on creativity and design, with bonuses for Star Sonata themed entries. They will receive a collection of Easter items and a special permanent holoprojector.

You have until 00:00 Server Time, Sunday 13th April to submit your entries, all submissions are to go to the forum topic. This gives you about a week and a half to get them done. Winners will be announced later that day and prizes handed to them.

Star Sonata 2: Quality of Life Survey!

Greetings Sonatians!

Many of you were around for our 2013 player survey! We received a lot of feedback and were able to apply much of what was said into development of Star Sonata, but we discovered that there were still some questions left unanswered.

With that we created a much shorter survey to specifically ask questions about the Quality of Life while playing Star Sonata. What we mean by this is things that are annoying to use, and could be much simpler in it’s implementation. For example: the tooltips on items are frustrating to use and disappear when I’m reading them.

This survey will close at the end of April! Thank you for your feedback!

Class Rebalance Contest Update & New Contest Soon!

Hey guys! Sorry for the radio silence since the contest’s conclusion. We’re having to do much in the way of manual work in order to track everyone’s points. The contest was way more popular than we anticipated! We are expecting winners to be announced late March-Early April, with a new contest announced shortly after (with much less manual work involved).

I can’t say much about the new contest yet, only that it involves a new system Jey’s been designing for the past month and that new system involves skins for player ships. :P

Universe Reset Estimated Downtime

We’re approximating one hour downtime for some minor fixes and tweaks. We estimate the server will be up at 2PM EST.

Some people are experiencing disconnection issues. If you are getting dc’d from liberty.starsonata.com please use  23.23.172.169 instead!

Status Update

Thanks to Jey he has found and isolated the cause of the crash. It was something related to Micron, and until a fix gets in it will be locked. We are expecting the fix to go in today (Monday, January 27th). The Event weekend will be extended through the end of next weekend (Monday, February 2nd), subs will be extended by three days, and the class rebalance contest that was going to launch Friday will now launch Tuesday. Thank you guys for your patience and understanding!

January Monthly Event!

For this month’s event we’ve got +30% Mod chance on dropped items, +30% Aug drop chance, and +50% experience gained!

The event will start roughly around 12:30pm EST on Friday, January 24th and end Monday, January 27th at 12:30pm EST!

Christmas 2013

So here we are boys and girls, robots and exotic genderless lifeforms, computers and mechs. Christmas, a time to be joyful and eat lots of food. Candy Canes to find and Spiked Egg Nog to drink and more goodies than the eye can see to stuff into your Gigantic Stocking. As usual we’ve run our annual Astro-Santa Letter competition of which we have picked five winners; Epicnija, Tom Daedalus, Reaper Pride, Platinum and AfriendlyCanadian. These five will get some pretty rewards, as well as their letters in game for you to collect during the event and deliver to Alabaster Snowball in Lapland, off Bipolar and Sol.

Additionally this year there a few new treats, a small collection of sound projectors have been added and a new collection of missions. As well as all this, this year we have a very special guy visiting, I don’t want to say much but it should be very amusing (for me at least).

The Christmas Holiday event will run from the Saturday 21st December at 00:00 until Sunday 5th January at 00:00.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Star Sonatarians!

IT’S CHRISTMAS!

Yup, it’s that chilly time of year again, nights are short, dark and cold, unless you live really down south, in which case enjoy your summer!
However, this all means one simple thing: It’s Christmas time! And that means if you’ve been a good boy or girl, kept your workers fed and didn’t abuse those Crack Whores you’ll get lots of goodies from Astro-Santa. But how will Astro-Santa know what to get?! Clearly, you need to send him a letter, a Christmas Letter so he knows.

That’s right! It’s time for our annual Astro-Santa Christmas letter competition. Same rules as usual, send Astro-Santa (or maybe the Astro-Elves) a lovely letter, for what things Astro-Santa should get people, or just to raise their Christmas spirits. You have until Friday 20th of December to get your entries in. Winners will be chosen shortly after the end and awarded prizes when the event starts. Prize includes some flavour of unique item (permanent holoprojector or soundprojector, or mix of the two) and an assortment of Christmas related items, as well as their letter in the game.

Submissions can be made via the forum discussion topic at the end of this post

Note: We may disqualify a person or entry for reasons we see fit.

Paypal Subscription Delays

Hey Star Sonatians!

We’ve been recently made aware of something going on with Paypal that is making Paypal subscriptions process significantly longer than usual. Previously, you could sub with Paypal and it would be instantaneous, but now we’re getting a significant delay in processing time. At the time of this post we believe it is something to do with Paypal itself, and not actually on our end, but we’re exploring all options to try and get that processing time down. Players are experiencing processing time of anywhere between 10 minutes to 12 hours.

So if you would like to subscribe immediately and get into the game NOW I would suggest using a credit card to subscribe instead. People in the past have had concerns about the security of the credit card processing system, but we’ve changed over to the popular Stripe billing system, and you can find out more about their security over at their website. www.stripe.com

If you subscribe with Paypal and are still not seeing your subscription apply within 12 hours, please submit a support ticket to support.starsonata.com and I will help you as soon as possible!
