I thought there was a rule that said P2p couldn't abuse the f2p system.

I never said f2p would be protected from p2p in wild space. That would be open to too much abuse. I think they will be able to be shot, so it can be dangerous to go there. But remember that with the new towing system, they can always get a tow out if they get killed once, and we still have the pvp ranges, so they won't just get instantly killed by someone 1000 levels higher.

I like this idea perhaps with a new system like this you can look towards a more micro transaction module for the future.
For example once a month you could release a custom skin for a ship where people would have to pay to download it to there ship gfx folder abit like League of Legends. Just a Thought. Tallon _________________ Tallon Director of TorchWood Leader of the Talloban! |

Tallon There will be probably Tallon, as the mini shop already exists with the unaugging and name changing system. Just a matter of time until the ticket system is replaced by a PayPal pay button webpage that automatically does it for the player. People have also already brought silly things like the rat+. _________________ Fibre broadband in my brainzz! |

I am not sure as to the stats on people who were once f2p (was paying after like 30min ) for x-amount of time and then transitioned to p2p, but I suspect that given exponential influx of f2p content as suggested, the % of active f2p players transitioning into p2p stands to drop drastically.
I think that removing the level-cap is fine given the amount of SP requirements in SS2, but definitely some more evil and revenue-generating/miserable rules are needed in order to prompt fledgeling players onto further glory . I.e. trial period & then unloggable & delete after x-time. EDIT: Also as a corollary of trial-periods, f2p accounts should for the most part be less abusable by p2p players. Other than that, I feel the idea is moving SS2 in the right direction. _________________ The fundamental difference between a trader and an investor - an investment, from a trader's perspective, is a trade gone bad. |

If I were f2p, having p2p kill me in Wild Space would be an incentive to subscribe so I could kick their asses.
They won't lose any gear upon death and there will be an elective towing feature. The smart ones will just take stealthy or speedy travel ships into Wild Space if they wish to visit shops; no sense in taking any other kind of ship since they won't be able to fight anyway. With minimal cost of death and camping impossible, I'm not too worried about this. Don't forget that a swarm of f2p will provide good income for players with shops, and it would be bad business to greet them with aggro bases. Assuming no one is camping Wild Space Sanctuary for hours on end with alts covering all possible PvP ranges, I'm not too worried. On the other hand, I do agree that--in principle--a cynical player base could make things very unpleasant for f2p in Wild Space. Judging by the low level of piracy these days, I just don't see that happening. _________________ Hi, I'm Anil, a long-time player turned developer. I maybe just too long here already but I remember p2p alts being created to be able to use Adonis bases to shoot down (some) f2p's.
Ofc an aggro base does shoot every player in that PvP range. I also remember pretty well a lot of f2p hate (when they could do more stuff than now) in all chat and on forums. But as said as start I'm probably just too long here already and we actually do have a tiny but very friendly and helpfull playerbase. |

Yeah, f2p hatred seems to have waned a lot over time. Things may change again, but I'm optimistic. With Jeff ostensibly on board with making DG ubers instanced, I think my last qualms about the proposal have been addressed.
