With Star Sonata 2, we are planning on moving much more strongly in the "free to play" direction. We haven't completely finalized the details or implemented everything code-wise, so for now for the launch, we're going to set the max f2p level to 300.
Going forward, we're looking at completely eliminating a level cap for f2p, but in return making Perilous layer "premium only" and locked from f2p, and wild space "semi-premium" which will mean that f2p can go there, but they won't be able to fire, build, have slaves there, manage bases, or do any hostile action like scan bases or tractor enemies. Since they can go there, they will be able to visit shops and also see all the awesomeness that is building in Wild Space, but hopefully will not be able to interfere with paying players there negatively in any way. F2p's will have ability to do everything in Nexus, Celestial Garden, and Earthforce Layer, and EF layer will continue to be expanded to a reasonably high danger factor and be non-pvp. _________________ For support, please create a support ticket here and I will get back to you as soon as possible. hm.. was going to say you could abuse F2P level 2ks for PvP but they'd only have piloting 16 max? huh... can't find any hole right now, and it certainly shifts the business model more towards that of other small MMOs... Although it gives less incentive to go P2P as soon on your second/third account; instead you could level all five characters up to 1k before paying a cent! I'd tentatively suggest limiting F2P accounts to one character if we're taking off the level cap?

There's no point to limit them to 1 character when accounts are free. They would just make as many accounts as they want. Also, if they can't fight in Wild Space and can't go into Perilous, the only place f2p will be able to PvP is if we make a new layer, because there's no PvP in Nexus, Celestial Garden, or EF.

If youre gonna add the no lvl cap then consider some stuff: what happens after a sub runs out, what happens to bases after a sub runs out.

What happens Now when a sub runs out, all trade skill EFFECT becomes null until account is resubbed.

hmmm
so they go to wildspace and can't fire on ai or only ships/people? If they can do dg ubers i'm telling you that'd be broken as hell. if they can't fire idk how they'd auto around in every class unless they knew what they were doing. -does this fuck colo? -same question as before, if my p2p sub runs out i could log on as an f2p? curious for more details. -won't this lag the hell out of the server? tbh i think this idea is awesome... i just know there is going to be some crazy abuse somewhere and a lot of issues initially. Ok so once you become p2p you are stuck p2p or cant play at all like it is now.Why dont you just steal some more runescape ideas and make it so when your sub runs out and you log in you are auto kicked to the area your allowed to be in
Ps:Jeff you do know that right now pvp is allowed in all of ef layer right? |
