bass wrote: I gotta say that it definitely looks a lot better than I had thought it would, but I am not a big fan of some of the ship graphics I saw in that video. The shrimp looks like a cardboard cutout with some bends in it, and the goldenboy looks far too cartoony. Anyhow, nice to see that there has been some advancements in the fabled client2. nice just try not to change the game too much the gameplay anyway, we like the gameplay thats why we play not because of the graphics... because currently they kinda suck i like the client 2 in top down. any idea when this might go beta or even live?

IMO something needs to be done about planet graphics. Some perspective thing so ships dont look bigger then planets. I don't know how that could be done, but at the moment the 3-d just increases the rediculousness of ships being bigger then planets...
Other then that, looks great. I especially like the bulk trade Can't wait to see ships like scrupples and paxes _________________ "This font is not available on your computer. Do you wish to use it anyways?" - Microsoft Word Error Message |

Increasing planet and base sizes would help a ton I think. Moons ---> Planets
Planets ---> Huge The Shrimp needs a definite rework, its a flying piece of "cardboard". Other than that I think the game looks spiffing _________________ Did you praise the sun today? |

Only problem with making planets bigger is that you have to move them all further apart, otherwise they'd all sit on each other all the time, which I guess is possible but it could be a pain. Also, it would either be hard to see a whole planet or you'd need to be able to zoom out really far. Looks like a really nice preview of what is to come. I personally quite like that it is simply a visual upgrade, I wouldn't like it if it had changed too much but I think there is a good balance. Of course, it would take getting used to.

Intelligent Design wrote: I'm just hoping that I wont have to buy a new computer to play... It's currently running at 30 fps on the cheapest netbook we have, but that's on low setting. In low setting, the number of lights that can illuminate any ship is limited to 8, there's no anti-aliasing on the ships, and the suns and particles look a little different, but it still looks very good in my opinion. There are currently 4 different quality settings so that the game will run on regular low end lap tops yet still have all the best shader and bump map, etc support on the computers with good graphics cards. So no, you won't have to buy a new computer hopefully. Client1 is actually so badly programmed that I think the new client might have even lower system requirements, but we'll have to see as we get further along. _________________ For support, please create a support ticket here and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
