We are looking for a compromise here. Admins want to put restrictions on drones because the almighty balance scrolls say they are OP.

What is wrong with my idea? ...it lets drones charge, it avoids overbank issues, you can have as many drones equipped as you want...i thought about it for a long time before i posted, and i can't think of any problems at all!

So why not just do it?

How is it difficult to display in-game? It could be displayed almost exactly the same as it is currently, except with different functionality and no actual immediate drain of your energybanks. But it would essentially LOOK pretty much exactly the same, at least in regards to charging the drone.


EDIT: That picture is just to describe how it would work, it wouldn't actually look like that. Would be pretty clunky if it did, honestly.

EDIT2: As for coding, could you make it charge the way it does right now, but remove the elec drain part of the charging, and then have an energy drain the way it works in C1?

Essentially what you'll end up with is a system identical to SS1's, except lore-accurate with regards to charging. The pluses of this can be pretty much condensed down into one thing; It WORKS. Years of gameplay and tweaking have proven it.

I think the simplest way to explain it is as a warm up. In C1 we had items that had "cool down". This is replaced by "charging(warm up)" in c2. Essentially the same thing, just a period of time before being used and not after.

All you really need to do is change charging time into warm-up time. Just ignore the energy aspect. Energy will stay in your bank until you deploy. When you scoop, drones will warm up again, then take a chunk out of your main bank when you redeploy.

Exactly like c1, just with a shiny polish so it looks like charging.

... Charging takes time. The CURRENT SYSTEM takes time. The only difference is that, with charging, energy is put into the drones and your main bank can regen more. This means we have to have a cap for equipped drones. With warm-up, energy is put into the drones as they deploy. Therefore: no drone cap.

Bump. This is infinitely better than any increase to number of equipped drones. At least give me something that lets me know it will happen after the major bugs are fixed, at least.
