Now this is very ambiguous, new player, and you'd better be careful because if you slip up you might get killed or banned. If you're a low level PVPer. You'll want to use low tech ruin gear, but this isnt about what to use this is about how to do it.
You need to follow several steps in order to be a decent pvper and person. 1) Once your victim is dead on the floor, don't mock him/her. Just scoop the valuables and leave. I find if you wait 10 mins between kills it's hardly 'griefing' and if they re attack you your killing them is self defence. In MY opinion. 2) Don't tractor opponents ships over their spirits, this can be regarded as greifing and you'll get whined at by the player who is an idiot. Actually, scratch that. You CAN totally LEGALLY drag the ship over the person's spirit, because spirits are fast enoguh to avoid it now. 3) Use range damage and rof to make your enemies peg it rather than fighting back. I find if you are a lot more damaging than your enemy and they canthit you they'll run away like a little girl (no sexist inferrence meant, it's just an expression) 4) DOnt swear profusely at people. It's unncessary. _________________ https://fantasoft.co.uk/ https://chanwalrus.com https://sect.news/ |

5) If they start swearing at you, calling you a noob, or being otherwise just plain annoying, keep killing them, but don't do the same to them.

About the "scoop the loot" part Retyu:
- How do you ensure the victims drops anything - aka they don't have appropriate GG? Also would you suggest to spirit them to get some cash? |

How would it be to oganize things more like a "hunt"?
Use a fast stealthy alt with ship/creditscanner and seek for targets - preferable in w3 without too many AI bases in reach. When one finds a valuable target with hopefully low GG status - stalk it and send the word around to the other group members: They use to each other and your main unrelated alts in different teams - preferable mid sized not very well known teams. Now they get into position in different gals on the likely path and are redirected by the stalking stealth player (scout); as the target - incidentally(!) - passes by shoot him down once - this till GG is used up. The kills afterwards should drop the items. It would be preferable if also encounters with GB could be incorporated in that strategy - lowering the chance the target may still have GG. As the PvP range is opened up quite some in the depths of w3 one should not need too many players and their alts to match the required lvls. If enough players and therefor a lot of alts are included in this strategy it may be able to cloud that the target is not just unlucky but that there is a plot behind it for quite some time. This could be especially usefull if one gets the knowledge about some runs (bana?) going on - when people start to scatter up on the way home the loot of the run maybe looted. Could this work? Would it be worthwhile the effort - beside the fun of such a "hunt"? I guess this would also "beef" a bit the experience of the "dangerous w3". |

wow!
But actually wouldn't have it been more "rewarding" if you'd wait for them to come out and loot them for their loot. Also the aim in the above was to get the gear on the ship the target has - of course except those stuff that never drops, Shields, Energy, Engine and Neurobound stuff. The hunt should just be for that - looting the target for it's weapons, ... Or is the chance to get all that stuff out in a single kill high? |

PVP is mainly about pillaging and causing enemies grief, if you succeed in either or both you're doing well.

I would love to PvP more often but I'm too poor to afford both a good PvP and PvE ship.
Most of this stuff seems pretty obvious but people always scream that its not fair. |

You dont need good gear to pvp. You need quick feet. Kill freighters / nubz, and run when the bigboys arrive. Eh, I think of PvP as combat with people who can actually fight back. I think of killing freighters and nubz as pirating more than PvP. Same thing I suppose yet slightly different in my mind. |
