Reworking the gunner stats seems pretty straightforward:

Reduce the mining bonus in capships from 3% to 2%. 40% instead of 60% at level 20.

Increase destruction when MFing from 1% to 1.5%. That's 30% instead of 20% at level 20.

So, the class gets a 10% increase in dps for all damage types with a 20% decrease on mining weps. This is a fairly subtle change that will increase the overall utility of the class without severely overbalancing anything. The increased destruction levels will also make a gunner a more attractive alternative to a third or fourth zerker / sniper on an uber run.

I actually WANT my weapons to scratch the enemy. At the moment augging offensively only adds like 6k dps at the cost of shields, resists, hull, and speed.

but that would still keep mining damage on top just weaker. so wouldnt that just make weapons in general less attractive to use?

Just have a 40% or so damage bonus across the class, keep destruction at 20%, and give gunners the ability to get mining weapons that outshine other classes.

Capital Annihilation Laser (Caplaser that actually hurts)
Disconnection (Higher tech excomm)
Kalthi Inferno Howitzer (Fires a shell towards enemy, if collides, produces a splash explosion too, adds fires)

I do. I would like my gunner to actually hurt, but instead of skewing the damage output towards mining damage, just have some of the better (and class locked) mining weapons.

With missiles dropping in overall damage (due to gunners now having to use combinations instead of straight up horrible spam), if you want gunners to be used more, the damage has to go up.

That, and an admin or two have already said destruction is staying at 20%.

A Sniper, while it too, has a major bonus to a single damage type, has the raw firepower to use other weapons and go along just fine.

A Gunner, on the other hand, suffers from the lack of firepower of its guns, and the fact most AI are NOT weak to mining.

Having average resists so that it's a so-so effect from your damage does not correlate into being a weakness. Like how Energy and Laser damage to a BG is the same, but your class has a buff to energy, means thats still not the BG's weakness.

Three Ada Rage on a PBF (the calc does not have the PBF stats yet) will get the player 13797.5 DPS using ACAL's while having IT 1, Bloodthirsty 1, Might of Atlas 1, AT 25, ZBS, OS6, and CCR.

This is the highest possible DPS you could possibly get on any T20 ship without the Mining Control Skill and using tweaks/auras, and it is absolutely pathetic compared to other classes which would put out tons more damage while still having the ability to Aug for things other than RoF/Damage/Elec temp.

Also, actually get on and test it out, rather than bitch on the forums about stuff you don't know anything about.

And Monsieur Griffin, while I appreciate that you've taken the time to do your math(so many people don't, so seriously, I appreciate it), you've not considered missiles into your equasion. Considering a gunner without missiles is sorta similar to considering a zerker with only one weapon. You get some interesting figures, but they're not exactly relevant.

Since missiles are the primary focus of much of this revamp, you should probably include that and run over your figures again.


That said, gunner could really use some augs that give missile ops.

Sure, why not? It's not like FC's aug for damage that often. Just grab a pair of mass drivers, a pair of point defences(both to take out incoming missiles), aug for hull and resists and you're good to go!

Can you drop the launch time for the unholy claymores AEM? 2s seems like forever compared with the 0.6s or whatever it is for regular mk V broadswords. And now they only fire 1 extra missiles...
