Could they be moved a bit farther from the station? I remember working on an alt and because their wandering range came near the station, it became nearly impossible to dock without dying at least once.
Or, once they kill you, the aggro goes away. |

For some reason they're stronger than the space rats outside of nexus... and a lower level...

Space rats outside of nexus are normal, weak rats.
With the C2 revamp, all the rats inside the nexus were changed, but the ones outside were not. _________________ Jey123456 wrote: That will happen in a future closer than most futures. No Context. Yeah, move the rats 100k out. Same effect, no players will run into them!
their weapons were not changed, only their levels... From what I remember with starting a new char recently. Anyways, as with any enemy you can't kill... Missions, level up, kill the rats. _________________ |

Yeah... what's wrong with this picture here? Seriously, unless you have a magcannon there's no real way to kill them. At least until you level above the level where you're supposed to kill them for said missions... At the very least, take the god damn enzyme thrust out of their hulls. I think that's what was in them when I scanned them last... In any case, it wasn't the normal engine. These rats turn on a dime. No strategy here, just sit and gun now that their weapons have absurd tracking... Lower the tracking so they can't shoot behind themselves and make it so they can't turn on a dime. Their ai is messed up too. By that I mean that they give it everything they've got. There's also nothing that isn't a ruin item that can withstand their assualt until tech 2. "lol, tech 2" mmm hmm... Well, yeah, the mission required to get it requires killing something tougher than rats... and I'm pretty sure is level locked. Don't get me wrong, I killed volcoms to get out of nexus (also needs to be looked at, those things are OP as fuck. If it wasn't for the destroyed shield matrix thing, there'd be no way. At least not with starter shields, in the end, you just end up getting to level 2(I did this by killing the volcoms, but I assume missions are suppossed to be used(which I apose) getting your own volcom, waiting for them to miss, and then sniping them, not something a new player should have to do to kill something) _________________ http://forum.starsonata.com/download/file.php?id=8119 SunDog60 wrote: targeting my OWN slave because... reasons, and then MIRVing it. |

I'll look into the space rat difficulty and perhaps move them just a bit from the space base. The reason they were put near the base was for more clear mission progression so you wouldn't have to go out and find them since it was a early mission.
I don't recall having problems killing them during play testing before though. |

I found them kind of challenging to kill in the beta event. Definitely took me a few tries.

Why go to Nexus as level 1 or level 2? There is enough to do inside the first zones (either Earthforce or Pirate) to be level 5 or 6 with a magcannon before ever encountering the Rats. I thought this was intentional and taught a good management of weapon types and skill point spend. Of course, perhaps someone completely new to the game would not be so wise and the missions could guide someone better.
This seems realted, you can get to Perilous Space at level 100 but I doubt you will be in your space ship for long. I just leveled an alt yesterday and the Rats were not any issue for me since I decided a magcannon was a good way to kill the cadets. |

The issue is that we're talking about the newbiest noobs you can think of trying to do these. And half decent person who's been playing SS for a while can kill them but these people are unco-ordinated and don't have a good idea of which weapons work better. Moving the rats just a little is an easy solution to the issue i find.

Turns out, the space rat dps is actually 54. Just correcting myself, also shot a few and... damn do they have a lot of turning, seriously, it's insane. Also, no, that's not clever, there's not anything in the mission description about using a long ranged weapon. That's for killing drones, before the rats, yes, but, even as it stands it's easier just to go for the rats first...
