Post Patch discussion thread - 02 May
Since forums are funny and I can't post in Dev Notes, todays patch notes discussion topic will be in SSGeneral Discussion until someone can move them there.

Patch notes can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=51890

Post Re: (Un)Offical patch discussion thread - 02 May
Can someone explain in plain english the new /commands. I sort of understand but I'm not sure how they vary from the /lku we already have.

EDIT: Ok so I just tried the /record function. Firstly it seemed to record fine but when went to play it my ship disappeared (but it still played) and I wasn't able to exit the playback, eventually having to close the client. When I went to log back on my terminal (command prompt) is just spewing a line of infinate 0's not telling me why it's doing it, the game still seems to work though.

Also according to Mitch the MIRV's don't work properly on wattages anymore, not sure what happend to em.

With the new commands, I'm not really sure what they all do, there should be some help text if you use em ingame.

I think the only one which isn't really obvious the the new lkc one.

Seems the reason my ship disappeared while recording has to do with the fact that the game becomes super zoomed in, so far that it zooms past my ship, even at max out I can't see anything buy a few stars in space.

Remove the /record and /play commands immediately... For the few people for whom it does work its a gamebreaker, I had to reinstall SS to get it to work again because my game goes past max zoom and zooming out removes all graphics.

if you actually read your even tab when using the command, youll notice that it tells you exactly how to stop a playback (mouse middle click)

Hmm.. yeah, doing /play started playback, and then zoomed in almost immediately past max zoom untill you could hardly see anything... and then when i stopped playback, it was not restored to original zoom settings nor was I able to change the zoom setting.

Deleting the config files restored normal zoom function.

On a side note, what happened to faster map loading? still slow as molasses.

Bleh, now the client is crashing on startup for me. DMPs sent, but since I can't access the game and just in case Jey doesn't like to answer PMs inforum, I decided to say it here. :P I don't really know what the issue is, but it was working fine before the patch, I'm having (And have been having since before the patch) the same issue with Jey's beta.

Apparently the "transferring decaying commods bug" has been reintroduced.

eg then you use the "transfer" command with large amounts of prom you get the old "you only have X-1 instead of X amount"

Ody, the exact same thing is happening to me...I just paid for a new sub for a month, got the update and each time I try to run the game I get the "Star Sonata has crashed and cannot recover." message and gives me details to send the dmp file to star sonata.

Why is it that each time the devs bring out a new update it ends up making the system WORSE than it did BEFORE the update...was working fine before.

this needs to get fixed Jey.... NOW

Chill Wolffen. :P

Also Zekk, I did send the DMPs as soon as I received them. I'm on EF, if we don't send DMPs immediately as we receive them Jey disembowels us.
