Unlike normal Reavers, the Arsonist has a few modifications to its ship, including an enhanced weapons arsenal: along with the usual Reaver laser, the Arsonist also has two Plasmite lasers and three Jack 'o Lantern Thoraxes, both of which it multifires. These ammunitions are further enhanced by a specialty 1300 distance aura that causes players to take double damage from heat-type weapons. Further upgrades include a shield that has five times the bank of a normal Reaver and a personal [[Augs#Uncommon_Augmenters_.28Tech_10-20.29|Arsonist's Aug]] that greatly increases its critical hit rates and tracking.

The Arsonist also uses a different combat style than most AI: it will attempt to stay nearby other AI on team Green Rumblers while attacking its targets. Upon its Green Rumblers teammate dieing, it will proceed to retreat to the vicinity of another member of the team.

The Arsonist has about a 6-12 minute respawn time.

== Contest ==

During the Temporary Universe Contest the Arsonist was one of many Ubers and Semi-ubers to drop Uber Kills commodities. However, it would always drop 1 Uber Kill, unlike other short-lived bosses that only had a 20-50% chance of dropping them. Due to being able to be quickly killed, on the shortest spawn timer for "semi-ubers" in the game, and guaranteed to drop an Uber Kills, it was camped almost 24 hours per day for the week of the contest by Octopus and Nurokourri.

== Bug ==

Starting November 16, 2007, for three days, the server repeatedly crashed and roll-backed to near the same position almost every half-hour. This was related to an error in the Arsonist that caused it to heal its targets using its thoraxes rather than damage them. Gaining exp from the healed player's kills, the Arsonist eventually would level up and crash the entire server instantaneously. The error in the aura stats was changed and the healing exp bug fixed on November 19, 2007. Then Nurokourri was threatened with a fake ban in All chat by [[Jeff_L]].
