Ship Tech Upgrades increase the tech of a ship to the tech of the upgrade item. As with [[Base_Items#Station Tech Upgrades|Station Tech Upgrades]], this does not scale stats, but simply allows a higher tech of [[Augmenters]] and [[Items]] to be equipped/used.

However, there is one possible drawback (or advantage): these items standardize the augmenter slots of ships they are used in.
Light fighters get 4 augmenter slots, Heavy Fighters and Freighters will have 3, and Capital ships are set to 2.

And as a last note, these items only go up to tech 19, so as to not affect endgame. After all, people do get rather touchy about their endgame...
