Location: Earth Central Training Outpost, EarthForce Outpost
*Agent: Enforcer Ogvassal
*Mission: First assignment

First assignment

Hello, Simon, my name is Enforcer Ogvassal. I'm here in this outpost to train new recruits like yourself.
However, as you can see outside, we were recently attacked and my ship is in the repair docks!
Some opportunistic raiders destroyed our supply bases and I've no ship to remove the threat with!

If you are up to it, the first training mission I had in mind for you was to kill
one of the hulls by the name of Diseased Larvae that lurk around here.
Diseased Larvae are the lowest of the low space pirates, so you shouldn't have too many problems with them.
They sometimes steal our supplies and are a nuisance, and as you can see are raiding the destroyed bases as we speak.

You might be new to this, so I'll talk you through it before I throw you into the fracas.
You can activate your targeting reticule [Z-Key] to get one of those pirates in your sights,
then, open fire [Space Bar] on it! Remember, you can't hit something you don't have targeted.
Now, I know, Diseased Larvae might not pose much of a challenge,
but dead trainees just force me to fill out all sorts of red tape, so I have to start it easy on you.

Remember - you won't be able to SCOOP [C] items, debris and loot until you have a scoop onboard.
As such, I'll give you one as a reward for killing a pirate.
I'll also give you a shield charger, which works to boost your shield regeneration
- don't worry, once its equipped it does this passively in the background, without you having to do anything.
You equip items by [double-left-clicking] them or by [right click, select equip].

Good Luck out there Simon.

* Credits given: 1000
* Reward: Scoop
* Reward: Enforcer Scout Charger

Summary
Kill 1 Diseased Larvae and return to the station. You can select a diseased egg by hitting [Z Key], or [Left Clicking] on it,
then use the [Space Bar] to fire on it. Remember, you won't be able to scoop [C] items until you get this mission reward.
First assignment

Good job, Simon, I knew this would be easy for you. You show promise as a fighter pilot.
So I've given you a Scoop and a Shield Charger. Be sure to equip each before you leave the station.
[Right Click item in Inventory and select 'Equip'] Head back here after a bit of training and I might have more for you to do.

*Agent: Enforcer Ogvassal
*Mission: Why you are here!

Why you are here!

Well done, Simon, you sucessfully destroyed one of the raiders.
However, perhaps it is time that you learnt more about the universe, and why you are here?

Simon, here on the outskirts of the Nexus, we are safe from most of the dangers of the real universe.
Out there in the void massive battles go on,
alien creatures and pirate syndicates plague humanity and we are facing genocide by dark threats.
In the deep reaches of warp space, a race of aliens called the UrQa have decimated worlds
and present a clear and present danger against humanity.

However, Simon, not all is lost.

You have shown your abilities in removing one of the Diseased Eggs here, I think our next step is to start training you,
and getting you ready for the larger battle for survival.
These Diseased Eggs and Flylets are pirates who lacked proper biological containment procedures,
and now suffer from a varient space plague.
Although still alive, it is a mercy to put them out of their misery, given the long and painful death they will suffer.
Exploding pustules and decompression is not a nice way to go. If you can kill four Diseased Flylets,
return here and I shall reward you with knowledge and the first steps towards becoming a great pilot.

When you kill a Diseased Flylet, check your EVENT tab
[click on the tab to view its contents, the tab is found at the bottom of the screen].
You will see your onboard computer logs the kill ID into its memory, and will provide confirmation of your kills to our systems.

Return once you have put 4 Diseased Flylets out of their misery.
*Mission: Navigation and Exploration!

Navigation and Exploration!

Well, Simon, as a new pilot, I assume that you are just getting the hang of flying in space.
However, you could do with some tips from an old hand like myself.

The most important lesson to learn in space is that you have momentum - and no brakes!
As an old earther once said "for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction". This means that in space,
if you want to stop, you should apply an equal thrust in the direction you are travelling to stop movement. And yes,
Simon, this means if you thrust and leave your ship you can travel light years into the void!!

Getting lost in space is a common error, and can be time consuming! However, we're in the age of high tech equipment,
and if you didn't know, your ship comes fitted with advanced auto-pilot and navigational software.
Instead of manually stopping you can [Right click] or [Press V] to autopilot to a destination.
You can also press [CTRL] to select a class of objects - suns, moons, stations, wormholes, then [Press Q] to cycle through them.

This will help you getting around the universe!
Now, why don't you try out these new keys and travel to the wormhole and explore it?
Press [F] to engage your warp engines once you're on top of the wormhole.

Return here once you've explored the next system for a reward!

* Experience given.
* Reward: Tibsi Radar

Summary
Explore the next system. Remember - CTRL selects a class of objects, Q cycles through them,
V or [Right Click] engages auto-pilot and F engages warp engines.
Navigation and Exploration!

Well done, Simon. Use your autopilot and navigational computer well to avoid getting LOST IN SPACE!
Oh, and you'll need to train your radar skill to use the reward!

Location: Earth Central Training Outpost, EarthForce Outpost
*Agent: Enforcer Ogvassal
*Mission: Time to start neurological upgrading and training!

Time to start neurological upgrading and training!

Well done, Simon! Having removed a large portion of the raider threat,
I am sure that you have gained experience and skills in space combat.
However, at the moment, your skills are barely equal to theirs,
and any serious pilot or alien being will open your ship to the void without even breaking a sweat.
Or in the case of the UrQa, without even bothering to engage their main weapons.

Learning these skills the old fashioned way might take months or even years -
however, with experience and access to the proper facilities,
these skills can be learned almost instantaneously through the process known as "Neuro Training".
Each time you wish to improve your skills in piloting, weaponry or any of the multitude of skills offered throughout the universe,
you must first burn that knowledge into your mind and implants.

Sounds painful? Well, it is! You must go to the Neuro Training tab in this very station, and select the skill "Weaponry".
[Double click] or select the skill and press [Train] to increase your proficiency in the skill.
Once you have trained Weaponry, return to me and I shall give you a better weapon!

Weapons - damage types and resistances

Well, Simon, you've successfully burnt your subjective experience into your hardware.
Now your neural interfaces can use the weapon I gave you, it is time for you to learn an important lesson.

Somewhere near the smaller of the suns, my sensors have picked up a larger Diseased craft hiding in a nearby nebula.
You must travel to the smaller sun and beyond, and see if your radar can find the larger ship. However, be warned!

In this universe, many ships have resistances to damage types. Each weapon does a distinctive damge type;
if you [left click] on a weapon, in the description will be what damage type it does.
Some damage types are better against different foes...

In my scans of this larger ship, I have determined that it is ONLY weak to surgical type damage.
Thus, you MUST use the weapon I gave you, or you will not be able to kill the ship.
When you return, I will have a sizable reward for your for ending the threat to this station,
however it is up to you to find the ship. [Press E] to change weapons.

Remember! Only the Surgical Laser I have given you can harm this ship - be aware, and beware!!

Metal?

Why, thank you Simon. This ain't my first rodeo and I know good metal when I see it! What you brought is GOOD metal!
Now, I'm one step closer to finally building those extensions!

Location: Silicon Valley, Commerce Preload
*Agent: Jed the Space Miner
*Mission: Mining, mining, mining!

Mining, mining, mining!

"Welcome back, Simon", says Jed the Space Miner. "Now that you have that mining laser, I think you can help me out.
There are some asteroids floating 'round 'here, and most of 'em are probably carryin' regular stuff,
but I hear there is something that's a mite rare in that there asteroid field. I figure you mine fer it fer me,
and if'n you find it, I'll pay nice. Oh, one more thing, if you need more room so you can carry more mined goods,
get yerself a hull extension. It'll make yer ship more spacious than an oil tychoons mansion!"
Mine the asteroids in Commerce Preload until you find some Promethium. Then, return here and give it to Jed the Space Miner.

Location: Silicon Valley, Commerce Preload
*Agent: Jed the Space Miner
*Mission: Mining, mining, mining!

Mining, mining, mining!

YEEHAW! I can't believe you found that, it was rarer than hen's teeth! Well, here's the money I promised,
have fun with it and keep on mining.

Location: Earth Central Training Outpost, Rats Preload
*Mission: Volcom Attack

Volcom Attack

Now that you have had some training, I have a more important mission for you.
Silicon Valley has been reporting Volcom Pirate attacks for a while now.
I want you to go take them out so that people can trade safely again. These volcoms are a bit tough,
so I suggest you upgrade your ship a bit before you try. A better shield would definately help!
Check out the trading bays [Trade Tab of Station Window] at the stations in Commerce Preload,
they might have something that can give you an edge against those guys! If you find something you like,
buy it [Double Click item in Trade List], and equip it [Right Click item in Inventory and select 'Equip'].
And if you can't afford it, remember you can always do some trading to get more cash!
Summary
Kill 5 Mini Volcom pirate ships near Silicon Valley.

Location: Earth Central Training Outpost, Rats Preload
*Agent: Enforcer Ogvassal
*Mission: Volcom Attack

Volcom Attack

Incredible, Simon, astonishing work! I think that we'll put an end to this Volcom threat yet.
Anyway, here is an augmenter we often give to our scouts once they have completed some of their first missions.
Make good use of it. You can equip it on your ship to enhance its handling and its energy recharge.
Note that you cannot remove augments once they are equipped so be sure you want to use that one. Good Luck.

Location: Earth Central Training Outpost, Rats Preload
*Agent: Enforcer Ogvassal
*Mission: Dung Pellets 2

Dung Pellets 2

I've come up with an idea! You need to prepare yourself for anything, and I think I can make an item to help!
If you bring me some metal and promethium from the asteroid field in Commerce Preload, and one Dung Pellets 2,
I could make a very powerful pellet to attack those pirates! It could also be useful if you run out of energy,
pellet guns use less energy than an average station lamp bulb! Think you can bring me all of this? Oh, and so you know.
Pirates like their loot, they like it a lot, so they don't always drop it.
You might have to kill a few before you actually get one of those pellet guns. Now get out there and get me what I need!

* Reward: Ogvassal Pellet Gun

Summary
Bring 4 Promethium, 10 Metals and 1 Dung Pellets 2 to Enforcer Ogvassal.
You can find Metals and Promethium in the asteroid field near here and you can find the Dung Pellets 2 in the Volcom Pirate
remains sometimes.

Location: Earth Central Training Outpost, Rats Preload
*Agent: Enforcer Ogvassal
*Mission: Dung Pellets 2

Dung Pellets 2

Everything I need! Excellent! You should be ready for any assault on those pirates. I'm not suggesting you only launch...
well the stuff that gun's going to, but it might come in handy. Good Luck!

= Level 2 Missions =

Location: Silicon Valley, Commerce Preload
*Agent: Jed the Space Miner
*Mission: More Promethium!

More Promethium!

"When it comes to minin' I may be as full of wind as a corn-eating horse, but I'll say you've got me beat.
Now that we know there is promethium in that asteroid field, we need to keep exploiting that vein.
If ya didn't know, when it comes to minin' prom, those there asteroids are tighter than tree bark fer me,
thats why I want ya to go minin' fer it. If you can bring me more promethium, it would be mighty fine,
I mean I could finally even get my new energy bank runnin', it needs a lot of that stuff!"

*Mission: Volcom Outpost

Volcom Outpost

Are you telling me they have an outpost in there?!? We have to do something!
I'm sure they plan on doing a full assault on Silicon Valley to take it over! We can't allow that. Please, head back to Commerce Preload,
find and destroy the Volcom outpost and try to gather some evidence of how they plan to attack the bases in Commerce Preload!
The lives of those innocent people depend entirely on you Simon. You're our only hope!

Summary
Destroy the Volcom Outpost and bring back evidence of their plans to Enforcer Ogvassal.
You can use your radar [Tab Key] to cycle through visible objects in a galaxy. This can be useful in locating the outpost.

Location: Earth Central Training Outpost, Rats Preload
*Agent: Enforcer Ogvassal
*Mission: Volcom Outpost

Volcom Outpost

Ohh! That was close. These plans inform us that they were going to attack very soon.
Silicon Valley will now be able to defend itself from these pirates thanks to this information and thanks to you!

Location: Earth Central Training Outpost, Rats Preload
*Agent: Enforcer Ogvassal
*Mission: Report to Nexus Station

Report to Nexus Station

The existence of an Outpost this far out in our training center is really bad news.
Even though we will be able to defend ourselves for a while they will be back at some point.
Who knows what will happen then? Maybe someone like you will not be there to help with this matter and all will be lost!
Report to Enforcer McDouglas in The Nexus, in Nexus Station.
Tell him what you saw and did and hopefully he will see the urgency of the situation and send a task force to help us.

Summary
Go speak with Enforcer McDouglas at Nexus Station in The Nexus about the Volcom Pirates.

Location: Nexus Station, The Nexus
*Agent: Enforcer McDouglas
*Mission: Report to Nexus Station

Report to Nexus Station

Hmm, this is very bad news I'm hearing, Simon. Are you certain that this all happened? Alright then,
I will gather some of our new Enforcers and send a task force in there. As for you, there is work here to be done,
and after a bit of training, I think you'll be ready to apply for the adacemy! With effort,
even you can join the ranks of Earthforce, and help save the universe from pirates, evil aliens and conscientious objectors!
Good Luck!
