 Extractors are used to extract natural resources from player stations that are attached to planets and moons. In order to equip the extractors to start extracting resources, the planet or moon must have the resource which can be determined by using [[Scanners]]. Resource deposits will also have an abundance level which will dictate how many extractors can be equipped per station on the planetary body. [[Planets]] can have as few as two attached stations and as many as six which can be determined by scanning. Each station can equip extractors equal to the resource abundance that's present which allows planets to offer more opportunities for extraction compared to moons who can only ever have one attached station. Resource extraction can be increased by having the trade skill [[Extraction Expert]] which will increase resource extraction by up to 660%.
 Equipping extractors is pretty straightforward. First, the planet or moon must have the resources available for the extractors to extract. Most extractors require one free worker on the station to equip the extractor and the tech level of the extractor must be equal to or less than the tech level of the player station that you're equipping the extractor on. The player must also have have the [[Station Management]] skill trained equal to or higher than the tech level of the extractor to equip it.
