Post subject:  Aura Generators

It was recently brought up in the bug forum (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=40585) that there were some aura generators not working as intended. As such, I've gone through the XML of the game, making sure that all auras have the right tags, in the right order, and are working as intended.

  • All auras either effect or ignore Capital Ships as intended
  • All auras either effect or ignore Drones as intended
  • All auras either effect or ignore AI as intended
  • All auras either effect or ignore the user as intended


If you notice any oddities (when test is rebuilt) please notify me in this thread.

So can you maybe put it in the description of the gens if they affect Droners Capships, ai or players.....Kind of like

It is on wiki. And the aura generators that were fixed have perfect descriptions, but some colliding codes made parts of the aura not work. Like Gamma Emitter. It never gave any negative shield regen to the person using it, you can try think of which code that prevented that ;)

Nobody ever complained gamma emitter was OP. In fact, it was very rarely used, since any halfassed FC can get more than 360 extra DPS out of slaves using the other auras. Only time I've ever used it was for large-scale fights where other FCs used the normal auras, like anatolia. Now this "fix" is essentially nerfing it, since it never gave that -self regen aura it was supposed to. Will it be beefed to compensate?

I altered about 40 auras in total, the problem was quite widespread.

did you change the KMFs aura ? it pulses like ... every minute and the duration lasts for 10 secs or something :/

I had to ask another dev what a KMK was.

A 30% boost to healing seems to be very useful, but the ship appears to be rare, and only has two aug slots (not a combat freighter then). I've provisionally changed it to 10 seconds / 25 seconds and made it affect drones and Capital ships as well, for testing.

I'll be running this past the other devs though, in case this will drastically break uber runs and so on.

Can you look at the really annoying useless aura effects? Like the +100% on the Zebra's Second Wind, which lasts for like 10 seconds, because imo, it's completely useless, no one uses an energybank which will charge to double in that time, unless its so ridiculously small it can, in which point by the time it does get there the tweak is probably over...

I do use a bank that can fully charge it in about 3 seconds, then I have 90k elec for a while. It is fine as it is.

I have to agree with yugi , the gamma emitter was never overpowered ,
without the -100 regen on self. Now it is totally useless.

Its main use was in large pvp situations as an multicliented support ship with -100 regen you are soon going to have zero sheilds very quickly.

Ahem. The KMF actually has 3 aug slots. Just FYI. I Used one as my primary combat ship until level 900, its quite nice in combo with slaves as an engineer, the aura lets your slaves be healed much easier, every once in a while.

2nd scenario.
Im in a Zebra, with Lincins charging up before Emp. We jump in, im full.
Tweak swings around, I get another 300k or so energy to blast with my Lincins before its all gone.
You think 300k energy is a waste? :P
Also very usefull for DGers who arent 100% regen based and could use a boost.
Good for Engineer Zebras. EF has one, and its beast.

It's not a +Xk energy tweak, its a +bank% tweak. I've been in your Zebra before, I know you only regen about 10k in that time... It's pointless for like 99% of the player base.

Even if you can actually gain an good amount of energy in that time, the most likely chance is that you'll loose most of it when the aura stops.
It would be much better if Zebra's Second Wind had -X% Electrical Tempering instead of that +100% Energy.
